Fatawa Center publishes 436 rulings across 30 subjects. Every one of them began as a question submitted by a member of the public and was answered in writing by a named scholar — not compiled from other sites, and not generated.

Answered per the usul of the four schools

Answers are reasoned according to the usul al-fiqh of the four Sunni schools. Where those schools reach the same conclusion, the answer says so. Where they differ, it names each position rather than presenting one of them as the only view. That is the editorial standard the archive is held to, and it is the reason a ruling here is longer than a one-line verdict.

Evidence, cited and checkable

Quran and hadith are quoted in Arabic with the reference given. On this site those passages are marked with the correct language and direction, so a screen reader announces them in Arabic and they are set in a Naskh face at a size that can actually be read.

Attribution

Rulings are published under the name of the scholar who issued them. The archive's authority rests on that attribution, so it is stated on every page rather than left to a site-wide byline.

What a ruling is not

A published answer addresses the question as it was asked, in the circumstances described. It is not a substitute for a qualified scholar who knows your situation, and it is not legal, medical or financial advice. Where the details of your case differ,submit your own question.
